Estate Planning

Whether you have a large estate or a small estate, selecting the planning strategies which best fit the needs of you and your family is extremely important. We recognize that all of our clients have three common goals: (1) to ensure that their beneficiaries receive their assets in as simple a manner as possible and at a time in which they are mature enough to manage those assets properly; (2) to ensure that federal and state governments receive as little of those assets as possible; and (3) to preserve and protect their wealth so that their beneficiaries will benefit from their accumulated wealth for many years to come.

At Mason Law, PC, we see our role as that of a shepherd, guiding you through the estate planning process. Our main focus is not to simply create an estate plan for you. We work with you, as we design a customized plan which will ultimately provide you with a sense of comfort in knowing that your wants and needs have been heard and accomplished.

Let Us Help You Build Your Plan

The purpose of creating an estate plan is to help prepare for you and your family's future. One we have discussed your individualized needs, we will guide you through the process of determining which estate planning tools will provide the most benefit. Some of the documents we will discuss include:

  • Wills - A Will is a legal document in which you establish a plan for distribution of your assets to your beneficiaries upon your death;
  • Living Trusts - A living trust is a legal document executed by a Grantor (the person creating and funding the trust) and a Trustee (the person managing the trust assets), designed to simplify the process of asset transfers upon your death;
  • Powers of Attorney - Powers of attorney allow you to designate specific individuals who can make legal or financial decisions on your behalf if you become incapacitated; and
  • Living Wills - This document will allow you to state your preferences for end-of-life medical care. In the event that a serious illness occurs or you have an unexpected decline in your health, this document authorizes your Agent to advocate for your wishes once you are not able to do so.
